Plans for Bicester garden city must have environmentalism firmly at their core

Plans for a new garden city at Bicester must place environmentalism at their core, Oxfordshire Euro-MP Catherine Bearder has argued.

key_bicester.pngThe plans, which include a new railway station will include 13,000 new homes, on-site amenities and large areas of green space.

Catherine commented: "It is clear there is a housing shortage in Britain and for this reason I welcome garden cities as a way to address this shortage.

"But these plans must capitalise on new green technology to ensure the new town is as environmentally friendly as possible.

"It is now cost effective to make houses almost CO2 neutral - this is an opportunity to make real environmental gains and to set an example for future developments.

"For far too long large-scale house building in the UK hasn't made use of green technology, I don't want this to be the case with Bicester."
