Hard Brexit could threaten protections against dangerous chemicals

Today, I have written to Environment Secretary Andrea Leadsom over the possible impact of Brexit on environmental protection, public safety and the UK chemicals industry.

The EU's chemical regulation (REACH) is thought to be particularly difficult and expensive to transpose into UK law after Brexit. Leaving REACH could not only be extremely costly to the taxpayer, but could also have considerable costs to the health of people and wildlife in the UK.

The British public deserve answers to the cost of the hard Brexit this Conservative Government is seeking.
