Today the European Commission released its position paper on the “Transition Arrangements in the Withdrawal Agreement.” The paper sets out the rules for the UK’s transition from the EU between April 2019 and December 2020.
The paper states that the UK may upon invitation, on a case-by-case basis be allowed to attend meetings.
Lib Dem MEP Catherine Bearder said:
“This is the reality of Brexit - outside looking in and obeying their rules.”
“This is not the future I want for my great country. I want us at the top tables of the EU - not on the naughty step waiting for permission to speak.
“As the Brexit deal becomes clearer the Liberal Democrats demand that the public have a final say on whether they think it will be good for our long term future.”
