Mega Trucks

Having fought against 30 tonne trucks with the Women's Institute in the 1980s, local Euro MP Catherine Bearder found herself fighting again when she attended a meeting of the No Mega Trucks campaign last night.

After the meeting Catherine commented:

"Clearly what should happen to freight is that it should move more and more onto rail and waterways."

"The roads, bridges, villages and communities just cannot take the size of these lorries."

"The South East plays a major part in the movement of freight across Europe and we must make the right choices for the region and the environment."
