Lib Dem Councils in South East England to fly EU flag on Europe day


On Thursday 9th May, the Lib Dem run Councils of Winchester, Eastleigh and Eastbourne will all fly EU flags to celebrate Europe day.

Catherine Bearder, Lib Dem MEP for the South East of England said:

“Europe day is an opportunity to celebrate the peace, unity and freedom that we currently enjoy as a member of the European Union. It is also a day to consider the things we have in common with the over 500 million people who we share this magnificent continent with.”

Kent Councillor and Lib Dem MEP candidate Antony Hook said:

“After our stunning local elections results last week, we want to show the voters of the South East of England that the Lib Dems are the party of remain and that we are absolutely committed to stopping Brexit“

Winchester Councillor and Lib Dem MEP candidate Martin Tod said:

“I am immensely proud to be both British and European and I want us to use this day to celebrate the incredible diversity of Winchester where so many EU27 nationals live and work.”

Lib Dem MEP candidate Nick Perry who works in Eastbourne said:

“I refuse to accept Nigel Farage’s vision of Britain. As a father of two, I want to build a Britain for my children which allows you to be patriotic about being both British and European. “
